Police are appealing for information after two men wearing BALACLAVAS have attempted to steal a woman’s handbag in Coleshill. Officers from Staffordshire Police said they were called to reports of two masked men driving around the town on a white moped who tried to steal a handbag from a woman. PC Chris Bell, of Warwickshire Police, said: "We urge members of the public to call 101 or 999 in an emergency if they see something suspicious. "On this occasion, it was reported to us that a lady saw two males on a motorbike and she felt like they were watching her. “The informant believed the two lads with balaclavas were going to steal her handbag. "Because of the quick report, we have managed to intercept the moped in Coleshill and unfortunately had to abandon the pursuit due to safety concerns. "We commend the lady who reported this to us as it may well have prevented further crimes from occurring and ask the public to be just as vigilant. "We hear of moped related thefts in other parts of the country, but have not seen this trend hit North Warwickshire, however, it is good to be aware of the dangers and take precautions to prevent becoming a victim. “Moped last seen by Coleshill Manor towards Chelmsley Wood direction. “Did you see the moped and the two males? “Have you got any dash cam footage or photos? “Did you see where it went?" Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 249 of November 16. Alternatively people can contact Crimestoppers, which is an anonymous service, on 0800 555 111.
